Pints, Pride and Pub Crawls: The Premier League’s Boozer Map (2025/26)

English football without the pre-match pint? Not happening. From scarfed-up locals to away-day diehards, matchdays start at the bar. So we’ve mapped the nation’s boozers to answer the only question that really matters on a Saturday lunchtime: how many pubs can you stumble to within a mile of your club’s ground?
If you’re plotting the perfect crawl (and perhaps checking the latest odds on our best betting sites), here’s the definitive 2025/26 picture. Spoiler: the North East is an absolute ale stronghold.
How we worked it out
All figures come via OLBG, Google Maps and UseYourLocal, correct as of 14/05/26. We counted pubs within a one-mile radius of each Premier League stadium and flagged the nearest named boozer with its distance.
20th–16th: Slim pickings
Bottom of the pile are Manchester City with just 2 pubs hugging the Etihad, the closest listed as The Best Western (0.5 miles) — more hotel bar than old-school snug. Brighton sit 19th on 3, anchored by The Long Man (0.3). Leeds United have 4 near Elland Road, with the famous Old Peacock at 0.6 miles. Then come the West London neighbours: Fulham and Brentford both on 6, closest being The Crabtree (0.3) and The Griffin (0.5) respectively. Lovely boozers, but not exactly a crawl for the ages.
15th–11th: The solid sevens (plus a record-breaker)
Five clubs share a steady return of 7 pubs within a mile: Manchester United (nearest The Bishop Blaize, 0.3), Burnley (The Park View, a scarcely believable 0.1), Crystal Palace (The Clifton Arms, 0.5), Bournemouth (The Rickshaw Tavern, 0.4) and Everton (The Bramley Moore, 0.3). A note on the Toffees: Goodison used to be blessed with 20-plus watering holes; the shiny new dockside digs trim the options, but you’ll still find a pint within a short stride.
Special mention to Burnley’s Park View, practically on Turf Moor’s doorstep. At roughly 357 feet, it’s the nearest pub to any Premier League stadium — a proper throwback to football’s terrace-and-taproom roots.
10th–6th: Big-city bounce
Into the top half, and things liven up. Aston Villa post 8 around Villa Park, with The Villa Tavern a mere 0.1 miles away. West Ham’s London Stadium jumps to 12 (nearest The Cow, 0.2), while Nottingham Forest boast 14 by the Trent with The Southbank Bar only 0.2. Spurs surge to 20, still orbiting the same patch of N17 that White Hart Lane once called home — The Bricklayers Arms is a classic at 0.3. And then Liverpool kick the door in at 25, The Arkles (0.2) the pre-match hub for Kop-bound pilgrims.
Top five: Geordie domination
Chelsea clock in with 27 around Stamford Bridge, fronted by The Chelsea Pensioner (0.2). Arsenal’s matchday patch around the Emirates is heaving too — 33 pubs, with The Tollington at 0.3 for a pre-game sing-song. Third-placed Wolves might surprise a few: 50 around Molineux, albeit with a modest nearest walk to The Royal Oak (0.5).
Then the North East turns the dial to eleven. Sunderland, back in the big time, serve up a mammoth 70 pubs within a mile of the Stadium of Light, with The Colliery Tavern just 0.2 away. And at the summit? Let’s be crystal: Newcastle United lead the land with a scarcely believable 174 pubs within a mile. St James’ Park is practically the city centre’s beating heart, and The Strawberry (0.2) remains the pilgrimage point. Good luck choosing just one.
What this tells us about matchday culture
It’s a tale of two Englands. Purpose-built bowls and new builds can feel sparse for old boozers within a short hop; historic inner-city grounds swim in them. The Etihad scores goals, not gastropubs. St James’ Park? It’s a civic cathedral surrounded by ale houses. Somewhere in between, clubs like Spurs and Liverpool blend modern arenas with old neighbourhoods — ideal for a proper warm-up and a sensible post-match debrief.
However you sip it, the message is clear: the Premier League isn’t just a league table — it’s a map of pubs, memories and meet-ups. See you at the bar.
