Ahead of this Milan derby, both Inter and AC have experienced contrasting fortunes for much the current Serie A campaign, with the former team challenging both Juventus and Lazio for the title while the latter are once again struggling to qualify for European football next season. Inter have enjoyed much more consistency although there is recent evidence that AC are beginning to find some form after a very indifferent start to the season. However, it is now nearly four years since I Rossoneri last beat Internazionale in a league game when claiming a 3-0 victory back in early 2016. AC will now need to end a winless seven-game sequence in Serie A action against their city rivals.
For Inter Milan, this Derby della Madonnina is a crucial game in their quest to wrest the Serie A title from Juventus and the only domestic league defeat incurred this season by Inter was a 2-1 home loss against Juve back in early October. Internazionale did lead the league table at one stage but five drawn games since early December have hampered those ambitions. More recently, a 2-1 Coppa Italia victory against Fiorentina on home soil followed by 2-0 league win at Udinese last weekend offer signs of a revival for Inter. That latest triumph was also a first clean sheet this year for I Nerazzurri.
Beating Inter will be no easy task for city neighbours AC especially as they could only draw at the San Siro on Sunday when facing a Hellas Verona team reduced to ten players midway during the second half, with the scores level. Yet the red and black half of Milan have been beaten just once in competitive action from late November onwards when hammered by 5-0 at Atalanta during December. Four wins from seven games this year plus an extra-time Coppa Italia success against Torino are further promising signs as AC slowly climb the league table.

Sami Handanovic (broken finger) is unlikely to feature for Inter Milan while Marcelo Brozovic (ankle) may also be absent from the starting line-up alongside Lautaro Martinez who is suspended. There are further doubts regarding Borja Valero (leg muscle), Roberto Gagliardini (foot) and Stefano Sensi (calf).
Leo Duarte (heel) and Lucas Biglia (hamstring) are expected to be unavailable for AC Milan with Rade Krunic (leg muscle) also doubtful but Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Simon Kjaer could return from illness and Ismael Bennacer has served his suspension.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic likely to recover from flu in time for this match, there is no doubt that his presence on the field will be a bonus for AC Milan. His signing has coincided with some improved performances for AC in recent weeks but facing Inter will be a formidable task with the hosts unbeaten in competitive action since mid-December when narrowly beaten by Barcelona. Yet AC have earned score draws over ninety minutes in their last two matches while Inter have been involved in three 1-1 stalemates during 2020. Therefore, a good bet may be for a Draw priced at 12/5 with Bet365.
A second pick is for Both Teams To Score offered at 10/11 by Bet365. Inter Milan have found the net in each of their competitive matches this season apart from a 0-0 home draw with Roma back in early December. Just five clean sheets registered within the last four months is also a concern for Inter with Sunday’s opponents scoring in their last six matches amid a promising start to the year. AC have also netted two or more goals in four of those six contests.
